Where in the World is the Weather?

Yeah, I know. Blogging about the weather is as low as you can go. Bite me.

Forecasters told us that Dubai would be foggy yesterday morning (UK Met Office) followed by showers yesterday afternoon and evening. And then the real bad weather would kick in - thundery stormy things through to the weekend.

The radio news has been telling us for the past two days that massive enormous huge black gnarly snarly storms would envelop the UAE from yesterday and that we'd better start building arks if we knew what was good for us.

Dubai Eye Radio's delightful @Kimboid was heard this very morning prophesying doom, gloom and weather fronts that'd have you reaching for your galoshes like a passenger on the Titanic hearing a shout of 'Ice!'. 92 FM's Catboy has been more like Chicken Licken Boy, Tweeting of imminent weather that'd make A Perfect Storm look like Picnic on Hanging Rock.

It's 9.15am and it is sunny. The sky is blue. The birds, I swear, are singing.

Sack the weathermen, I say. Sack 'em all. Their job is easy - 363 days a year, 'tomorrow will be sunny and fine in Dubai'. 2 days a year 'a risk of some light showers'.

Birds singing?! In Dubai?! Were they sitting on top of cranes? :)

hahahahah

Actually it did rain last night in Sharjah.

If Dubai is like New York, you will experience all sorts of weather in one day! I remember when we used to go swim because it was sunny and humid and within minutes black clouds sweep everything away with the rains

wow alex! and i thot i was the only one that noticed this! i have not taken my car for washing in anticipation of the impending 'thunderstorms'. :-)

i know one thing for sure. the day i drive into enoc for my wash is the day it will rain like crazy. sigh. i guess i WILL have to waste my 30 bucks :p

*conspiracy theory* the whole thunderstorms weather report is prob to give a little edge to the rather boring weather report :p probably at the request of the weather report sponsors gargash insurance' :) :)

It did bloody drizzle last night, enough to leave dirty drops of water all over my nicely washed car. Damn weather.

Mostly in Bahrain, Qagar, Southern Iran and Bandar Abas at the moment. Might get something tonight, and maybe a bit more on Saturday evening and night.

Hopefully.

Tomorrow's forecast = yesterday's weather.

You'll be right 364 days a year.

Wahahaha! Alex's Disney moment :)

'True that' KJ! In NYC, chances are we shall have all 4 seasons single day!

I never listen to UAE weather forecasts, what's to 'forecast'?

Are you happy now, you heavens and the elements taunting...person!

Sharjah roads are flooded, hail just bashed in the front of my ride, and it sounds like my AC is going for a trip to the repairman sometime tomorrow.

Is that more thunder I hear?

I can report heavy hail around the iranian hospital area.

I can certainly report most of the hail landing cacophonously on the tin roof of The Jam Jar during my presentation tonight.

Revenge for the weather-men!

For 364 days it alternates between hot and sunny and then hot and dark but I actually reckon being a weatherman here is pretty difficult. Look, how many ways can you think of to say hot and sunny? Sunny and hot, hot with sun, sun with hot spells etc etc. You run out pretty quickly then it's back to the sudoku or the crossword - "hey Nigel, what's a 5 letter word meaning hot and sunny?" oh yeah Dubai. Except when it rains!

May I suggest a cooling off period of 24 hours before pressing the blog 'publish' button....

Wiley Weatherman,

I hear you. But I also hear you guys are saddled with other tasks to keep you busy; like reading traffic reports, horoscope and tea room gossip. oh wait.. this is probably weather reports have a gossipy feel to them.

Alexander said...

No apologies! It was 48 hours late and they didn't even MENTION hail!!!!!!
