Geekdom

For such a smart company, Google can be incredibly daft at times. Do you ever get an Arabic interface on www.google.com because you've been redirected to www.google.ae which automatically decides you're an Arabic speaker?

Yes?

Then prepare to wire me Dhs 100 for I have the answer to your woes. Go here. Now click on the third link down (Google: no country redirect) and click OK. A plug-in will be installed that fixes the Google "I assume you're an Arabic speaker because you're browsing from the Middle East's biggest international jet-set hot spot, tourist hub and international community" tomfoolery.

No, no, don't thank me. Just wire the cash or go to Authonomy and read Space. Did I mention it was now at number 9? Oh, OK. Sorry...

lol... well they're just detecting your IP address and redirecting you to the ae page. If you click "English" once, you will not have to do it until the next time you log in after deleting your temporary internet files.
Nice post to start my morning though. There isn't much to do with the stock markets doing what they are lol.

If you leave your google account logged in it will also remain in english.

The real problem is when using the search box in your browser it has become common to get an error from google locking you out of the internet because they think you're a spam-bot, which isn't true, it's just that you're going through the proxy along with a few million other people. Not too much you can do about that /:

Thanks for the fix though, just installed it on IE7.

Hey Sam! Had the same problem with Authonomy, the Harper Collins book website I'm currently infesting because my book's on it. People vote for books they like and we were starting to get multiple votes from the UAE coming from the same IP, so the site was rejecting them. The admin's worked around it, but again it's because of that mad IP setup we've got here. Grr!

Happens all the time. So, you then click on the link "go to google.com in English" and that's that.

That'll be 10,000 fils for me if you please.

This way you don't have to do that ever again.
